EDMONTON — Electrical utility Capital Power Corp. has reported third-quarter net income attributable to shareholders of $67 million, down from $154 million during the same period a year earlier. The profit amounted to 37 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with 94 cents per diluted share during the third quarter of 2025. Adjusted funds from operations — how Capital Power gauges its ability to fund growth, debt repayment and dividends — dipped to $306 million from $369 million. Capital Power attributed the drop in part to maintenance spending at some of its plants, as well as finance and tax expenses. Revenue and other income fell to $831 million from $1.21 billion in the same quarter last year. Chief executive Avik Dey says Capital Power is looking at ways to upgrade and expand existing sites to derive more value from them. --- This report by The Canadian Press was first published Nov. 2, 2026.
