Boy. 10. dies after falling off 30-metre cliff in N.L.

BAY ROBERTS, N.L. - A 10-year-old boy is dead after falling off a 30-metre cliff in eastern Newfoundland.

Police say the boy was playing in the backyard of a home in Bay Roberts on Monday afternoon when he lost his footing and tumbled over the edge of an embankment.

A search and rescue team pulled the boy to safety, but he later died at the Carbonear General Hospital.

RCMP confirm the boy and his family were visiting from another province.
