The body of a Mountie who vanished in a Yukon river nearly a month ago has been recovered.

Const. Michael Potvin, 26, of Ottawa, was travelling aboard a boat that capsized on July 13. He was not wearing a life jacket.

He fell into the frigid water on the Stewart River near Mayo, a small village about 400 kilometres north of Whitehorse.

Potvin's body was found 50 kilometres downstream from where the boat capsized.
