What’s open and closed in Barrie, County of Simcoe on Canada Day?

Find a list of what County of Simcoe services are available on Canada Day.

Many services and businesses will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, Canada Day. Here’s a list of which Barrie and County of Simcoe services will be running or halted for the day.

BARRIE

The following Barrie city services will be affected on Canada Day.

• Barrie Transit will run on a Sunday service schedule with extended evening service to accommodate the Canada Day fireworks show.

Facilities

• Recreation/community centres will be closed.
• City Hall will be closed.
• The landfill will be closed.

Service reminders:

• Curbside collection: There will be no change to the waste collection schedule on July 1; curbside collection will occur as regularly scheduled.
• Parking: The Chase McEachern Way parking lot and the south end of the Centennial Beach lot will be closed Wednesday for the Canada Day celebrations.

• Note: Road closures on Dunlop St. will be in place on July 1 for Open Air Dunlop

Fireworks

• Residents are permitted to use fireworks on the Canada Day holiday, but note: fireworks are only permitted on the holiday.

COUNTY OF SIMCOE

Curbside Waste Collection and Waste Drop-off Facilities

• Garbage and organics collection is ongoing as there is no change to the county’s waste collection schedule. Here is recycling collection information
• All county waste drop-off facilities are closed on July 1.

LINX Transit

• LINX Transit services are not in operation on July 1
• Returns to regularly scheduled services for all routes July 2.

County Administration Centre (Midhurst) & Service Simcoe Contact Centre

• The Administration Centre, including the Service Simcoe Contact Centre, will be closed on July 1.

Ontario Works and Children Services

• All Ontario Works and Children Services offices will be closed on July 1.

Lake Simcoe Regional Airport

• The Lake Simcoe Regional Airport will be operating on July 1.

Simcoe County Museum

The Simcoe County Museum is open on July 1.

Simcoe County Archives

• The Simcoe County Archives will be closed on July 1.
