A school bus caught fire with 44 students on board on Innis Lake Road in Caledon East.

A school bus carrying 44 high school students caught fire Thursday morning in Caledon East, prompting a response from emergency crews.

According to Caledon police, the incident was reported around 8:10 a.m. on Innis Lake Road. Officers responded alongside Caledon Fire and Emergency Services.

Police say all students and the driver were safely evacuated from the bus. No injures were reported.

Innis Lake Road was closed between Old Church Road and Atchison Drive while crews worked to clear the area.

Officials confirm the fire is not considered suspicious and appears to have been mechanical in nature.
