Police say a group of hockey spectators climbed onto the boards, hung from the glass, ripped off their shirts and aggressively rocked the panels until they shattered during a hockey game in Bracebridge. Officers say the incident happened last Thursday at the hockey rink located inside the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre on Salmon Avenue. Around 8 p.m., a local hockey team was hosting a game when a group of youth and young adults gathered in a corner of the rink. Bracebridge police say that between 9:30 and 10 p.m., the group began climbing onto the boards and hanging from the top of the glass. Investigators allege the fans aggressively rocked the glass back and forth until it broke. Officers also reported that some group members removed their shirts and waved them in the air during the incident. This behaviour, officials say, caused damage to both the glass and its supporting structures. Multiple people snagged the incident on video and police are aware that footage is circulating. The investigation is ongoing. Bracebridge OPP are asking anyone with information or video to contact police.
