Retired teacher plans on attending The Price Is Right taping with lottery winnings

Joelle Plant, 60, from Barrie plans to watch a taping of The Price Is Right with her recent $100,000 win, a top prize from OLG’s Instant Gift Pack game.

Plante, a teacher planning to retire this year, picked up a ticket before Christmas to treat herself.

Usually a calm person, something she said she had to learn as a grade five teacher with a class full of 28 kids, Plante said the moment she realized she had won, she sang to herself, “I won $100,000!”

When she told her family, she said her family was both excited and couldn’t believe it.

“My daughters were in disbelief when I shared the news,” Plante said. “The moment my husband stepped through the door, I told him as well, with a huge smile on my face. He was very happy for me.”

“The only thing I’ve ever won before this was a trip on the radio 15 years ago,” Plante said.

In addition to a trip to California to see the longest-running American game show, The Price Is Right, she said her dream is to travel to Hawaii and Australia.

The Instant Gift Pack costs $20 per play that holds five different scratch tickets. Every pack purchased offers a prize whether it’s free tickets, amounts of cash or the top prize of $100,000.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Cundles Road East in Barrie.
