A Barrie man, 37, is facing serious charges after reports of threatening a woman, saying he had a firearm. Police said the pair knew each other and the man reportedly had assaulted the woman. Several officers and members of the Tactical Support and K9 units arrived at a residence in the central part of the city on Sunday and set up a perimeter to contain the suspect. The investigation also involved a temporary road closure that shut down Essa Road between Gowan Street and Burton Avenue for several hours in Sunday morning. Police were able to take the suspect into custody without further incident. The man is facing charges of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, assault with a weapon and administering a noxious substance with intent to cause bodily harm. The investigation is ongoing.
