A quick call to police took a suspected drunk driver off the roads. A member of the public called Grey Bruce OPP at 10:26 p.m. Saturday, to voice their concern about a possibly impaired driver on Highway 21. Officers caught up with the car at Highway 6 and 21 between 9th Avenue West and Grey Road 18 in Georgian Bluffs. Police initiated an impaired driving investigation and charged a 33-year-old Saugeen Shores man with operating a vehicle while impaired and dangerous driving. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 3. His driver’s licence was pulled for 90-days, and his car was impounded for seven days. The Grey Bruce OPP says members of the public play a vital role in traffic safety by reporting suspected impaired drivers. If you observe a driver who may be impaired by alcohol or drugs, call 911 immediately. Your actions could help prevent a serious collision and save lives.
