Starting June 8, a stretch of Mapleview Drive in southeast Barrie will be shut down, resulting in major changes to the 12 A and 12 B bus route. Mapleview will be shutdown between Lily Drive and Royal Jubilee Drive, as a result, bus route 12 will no longer have access to the Barrie South Go station. The shutdown is necessary to allow for the replacement of a box culvert in the area, according to social media post from Ward 10 councillor Bryn Hamilton. In the meantime, traffic from the area will be redirected to Yonge Street, then Big Bay Point Road and finally south again via Prince William Way. The city’s bus route 15 will operate on this same route and operate a complimentary shuttle service to provide access to Barrie South GO Station and Maple Ridge Secondary School on both sides of the closure. The closure is expected to remain in place until Nov. 20 2026.
