Barrie Road in Orillia has reopened after an overnight fire in Orillia burned through a residential building. The Orillia Fire Department says the call came in shortly after midnight on Tuesday. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the windows and door of a main floor unit. The fire department tells CTV News residents of all five units of the three storey building exited without injury. Fire Chief Chris Ferry says the fire extended through the building by burning up the exterior and making its way to the second floor before reaching up to the third and burning its way up to an attic space. Ferry says the roof of the building also caught fire at one point, resulting in a partial roof collapse. Fourteen members of the Orillia Fire Department attended the scene, with additional units from Ramara Fire and Severn Fire. The fire department says the cause is undetermined, but the fire is not deemed suspicious at this time.
