Police say one man has been arrested in connection with a homicide that happened at the Five Points in downtown Barrie Friday. Earlier today, Barrie police put out suspect photos of 29-year-old Justin Harris who they were calling a “suspect in the case.” Shortly after 2 p.m., officers say they arrested the man in the area of Toronto Street and Dunlop Street West. A man, 36, has died as a result of stab wounds after being rushed to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, according to police. Authorities say the suspect is known to police but they have not yet released a motive for the attack or if the two men were known to each other. One of the reasons the investigation still continues is that police are looking into the weapon. “We believe it was an edged weapon that was used,” Sgt. Rob Gravel, the Barrie police homicide detective, told CTV News. At 11:30 a.m. officers say they were called to a report of a man who was injured and lying on the ground in the Bayfield Street and Dunlop Street West area at the Five Points. Investigators say Harris and the victim were seen together in the area shortly before police were contacted and they left not long after. The roads in the area were closed for much of the day with a heavy police presence on scene. The investigation is ongoing.
