New training investment strengthens Bradford West Gwillimbury’s fire department

Bradford West Gwillimbury’s (BWG) fire department is boosting its training—thanks to a grant from Enbridge Gas.

On Tuesday, Enbridge Gas Ontario announced that it will be investing in the Safe Community Project Assist program, which is used to purchase educational materials to assist in training BWG’s firefighters in life-saving techniques.

According to the press release, a $125,000 gift from will be shared by 25 Ontario fire departments, and $5,000 will be going directly to BWG.

“We are sincerely grateful to Enbridge Gas for their generous $5,000 contribution,” says BWG Fire Chief Michael Rozario. “This funding will directly support our training program, allowing us to purchase essential firefighting materials, training resources, and study materials for exam preparation.”

Rozario adds that by supplementing existing training in partnership with the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council, this program can ensure that the fire department is better equipped and prepared to keep the community safe.

The Safe Community Project Assist launched back in 2012, and since then, 394 grants have been provided to fire departments across the province.

The press release states that Enbridge Gas is the nation’s largest natural gas storage, transmission, and distribution company based in Ontario.
