As the summer draws to a conclusion, the municipality of Midland has opened its first ever public splash pad. The town held a formal opening ceremony on Friday, cutting the ribbon at the pad located in Little Lake Park. “The opening of Midland’s first splash pad marks an important milestone for our community,” said Mayor Bill Gordon in a statement shared by the town. The town says the project was made possible in part due to a $200,000 grant from the province, by way of its Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Member of Provincial Parliament for Simcoe North, Jill Dunlop, was on location for the grand opening. “Midland’s first splash pad will be a wonderful addition to the community, providing children and families with a fun and accessible way to enjoy the outdoors,” Dunlop said. The town says the new splash pad provides “inclusive, accessible water-play destination” for the children and families of Midland. The pad is said to have new pathway connections, upgraded water servicing and benches.
