A Canadian coming-of-age television series that’s been the talk of the summer in our region is once again putting the spotlight on local businesses. Ahead of Prime Video’s Sterling Point premiere, Sundae Creative—a public relations and influencer marketing agency—invited influencers to experience the real-life set of the show, which happens to be Muskoka, Ont. The agency hosted content creators at a lakeside property at Jaynes Cottages, a luxury property rental service in Muskoka. The opportunity gave influencers the chance to promote the show through their social media channels. As part of the experience, the agency incorporated Sterling Point elements and branding. “Every detail was designed as a little nod to the show while serving peak Canadian summer, from themed gifting and branded moments throughout the cottage to boat rides across the lake and a DIY Caesar bar,” a spokesperson for Sundae Creative tells CTV News. One of those props was a canoe that took centre stage in many photos. Story of the canoe When Sundae Creative was looking for an authentic, wooden canoe, Wedding Benches of Muskoka was recommended. The company also delivered three hand-crafted harvest tables for the influencers to eat dinner at, all handmade. That same canoe has a storied history as it was used in a wedding for a different purpose. The bride was brought in by another canoe, but said her vows under a canoe arbor created by Wedding Benches of Muskoka and made using the canoe used for the influencer event. “The canoe was also part of our event production, helping bring the overall concept to life,” a spokesperson for Sundae Creative says. Since the event, photos of the canoe have been popping up on influencers’ social media feeds. In collaboration with Prime Video, the select group of influencers even got a surprise visit from the cast. “You can bet that we went home and binge watched Sterling Point after picking our canoe back up. We’re excited for season 2,” Chantelle Denstedt with Wedding Benches of Muskoka tells CTV News. Sterling Point is about a girl from New York who makes her way across the border into Canada after discovering her estranged grandfather died and left her and her twin brother an island in Muskoka. It is filmed entirely in Muskoka.
