Just 24 hours ago, an Innisfil road was buried beneath a mountain of illegally dumped garbage. Today, that massive pile is gone. The unwanted trash scattered along Webster Boulevard in a new subdivision was cleaned up Wednesday after CTV News reported on the growing mess, which included everything from a hot tub and bathroom sink to toys and other household items. New video submitted by a viewer Wednesday shows the area cleared, a stark contrast to the scene the day before, when heaps of debris had spread across the residential road. “It shows no love for the community. It shows no respect to the neighbours,” Innisfil Deputy Mayor Ken Fowler said. “It’s just downright wrong.” He added that the landfill is less than 20 minutes away. Nearby surveillance video captured people adding to the pile, and CTV News was told that one driver was even recorded making three separate drop-offs at the site. A large green garbage bin had been placed in the area but was later removed. Even after it was gone, the illegal dumping continued, said one Innisfil resident. A surveillance camera was then installed by a developer working in the area, which said his own garbage bins are kept behind fencing to prevent unauthorized dumping. The Town of Innisfil told CTV News the developer ultimately agreed to clean up the mess, and by Wednesday, the pile was gone. Town officials say they’re still working to determine who is responsible for dumping all of the garbage. They’re asking residents to report any similar incidents they come across in their neighbourhoods.
