Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland is warning residents of high patient volumes in its emergency department. In a post on social media, the hospital is asking residents to ‘assess the urgency’ before coming into the hospital’s emergency department. The hospital says if possible, residents are asked to seek alternative care options based on the condition they are dealing with. Residents are asked to consider visiting their family physician and for those who do not have a family doctor yet, the hospital encourages using a virtual appointment service. Alternative options for those seeking medical attention include calling Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000, booking through the Central Ontario Regional Urgent Care appointment portal or the Children’s Rapid Access Online appointment portal.
