New pedestrian crossovers are being designed at multiple locations across New Tecumseth. “We’re excited to share that the town has hired Triton Engineering to design new pedestrian crossovers at five spots,” shared the Town of New Tecumseth over social media. The community based consulting firm, Triton Engineering will proceed with the design work this fall. As part of the project, they will survey the roads and nearby areas, including driveways, trees, fences, and land features. The town says this work will not affect your personal property. The enhancements are expected to be completed by the end of this year. Here are the areas undergoing new crossovers: Do you know the difference between a pedestrian crosswalk and a pedestrian crossover? A crosswalk is usually a part of a road at an intersection. These are indicated with stop signs, traffic signals and pedestrian signals. A crossover, on the other hand, is recognized by pavement markings, signs, pedestrian push buttons and overhead lights. Drivers and cyclists must wait for pedestrians to cross the entire roadway at school crossings and pedestrian crossovers.
