Erratic driver attempts to join Santa Claus parade

Police are looking to identify the driver of a car that tried to enter the Innisfil Santa parade but turned erratic when denied.

South Simcoe police say they got a complaint of an erratic driver during the Innisfil Santa Claus Parade on the weekend and are looking for witnesses.

A grey Audi SUV tried to join the parade route but was denied, according to police.

The vehicle was later seen driving in the Shoppers Drug Mart and Scotiabank Plaza. Investigators say when the driver realized they couldn’t get out of the parking lot onto Innisfil Beach Road, the vehicle was spotted jumping the curb and blasting through a pedestrian walkway.

Police say no injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing and police are looking for the public’s assistance. Anyone with information or photos of the vehicle or incident, is asked to call South Simcoe police.
