Collingwood is getting ready to welcome another busy summer season by the lake, and with it, come the parking woes. To that end, parking rules are changing for the upcoming season. The town is reminding residents that waterfront parking permits are required to park for free in designated areas. The permit program offers residents access to high-demand parking spots near popular lakeside locations. Key waterfront areas include Sunset Point Park, Harbourlands Park, Princeton Shores, Millennium Park, and surrounding shoreline access points. Without a valid permit, paid parking will be in effect seven days a week, from May 15 through October 12 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. At Collingwood Harbour, the hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Town officials say the goal is to manage increasing visitor numbers while keeping access fair for residents. Registration for free waterfront parking permits is now open. Seasonal permits for non-residents are also available to purchase through HotSpot, town hall or the Centennial Aquatics Centre.
