A Barrie man been charged after a lengthy investigation into a single vehicle collision that happened in the summer. During the early morning hours of June 30, police attended the scene of a collision on Cundles Road West between Sunnidale Road and Coulter Street. When emergency crews arrived, the vehicle was lodged in the nearby wooded area. The driver had to be extracted from the vehicle and was hospitalized with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the investigation determined excessive speeds and heavy rainfall to be the reason why the driver lost control. According to police, several large trees were knocked down as the vehicle left the roadway and ended up in the thick brush. The driver, a 54-year-old Barrie man has now been charged with careless driving. No other injuries were reported in the collision.
