Police have laid charges following a collision in south Barrie that hospitalized two children. Just before 7 a.m. on Aug. 21, two children and a woman were crossing the street at the intersection of Mapleview Drive and Garibaldi Drive when they were struck by a car. The collision sent all three to hospital. A 40-year-old woman and a nine-year-old suffered only minor injuries while the other boy, just five-years-old, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and had to be airlifted to a Toronto hospital. The driver, a 58-year-old Barrie woman, was uninjured in the collision. On Tuesday, police charged her with two counts of careless driving and one count of careless driving causing bodily harm. Police say the three pedestrians have been released from hospital since and continue to recover at home.
