With Halloween approaching next month, you may be starting to think about your costume - but what about your dog’s? As it turns out, there’s an event right here in Simcoe County that allows you to show off your beloved pet in their Halloween best. Four-legged friends of all varieties will come together for the second annual Hallowoof at the Barrie Dog Run, located at North Barrie Crossings Plaza on Sat., Oct. 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Organized by Choice Properties, the community is encouraged to bring out their dogs dressed in a Halloween costume for the chance to win prizes. The property company says prizes will be given out for best Halloween costume, best store-bought costume and best couple costume for those owners inclined to coordinate with their pet. There will also be photo installations, a local DJ spinning country tunes, free dog treats and people can enjoy free coffee and snacks. CTV’s Sarah Freemark will be hosting the festivities. Choice Properties provides community programming in spaces the property company owns, like North Barrie Crossings, a dedicated spot for Barrie dogs and their owners. The space, which opened up two years ago, has paw-friendly surfaces, a secure double-fenced entre, designated spots for small and large dogs, seating and a waste disposal area. While the event is free, registration is required through Event Brite.
