The City of Orillia’s annual Toys for Tickets campaign is returning for the month of November. The campaign, which started back in 2006, lets people who receive eligible parking tickets donate a new children’s toy instead of paying their fine. The toys collected through the campaign are donated to local charities, including Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia and District and The Salvation Army. Anyone who receives a parking ticket in Orillia from Nov. 1 to Dec.1, 2026 can opt to donate a toy valued at least as much as the parking fine. When making the donation, residents are asked to bring their ticket, a new toy in its original packaging and proof of purchase showing the toy’s value to the Orillia City Centre Customer Service located at 50 Andrew St. The drop-off hours are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. excluding holidays. When visiting Orillia city hall, residents can also choose to donate the fine amount to the campaign itself instead of purchasing a toy. Accessible parking violations are excluded. The donation deadline is Dec. 1, 2026. With files from CTV’s Daniel Panimondo.
