Well-known auto enthusiast Rowan Atkinson, famous for his television and film work as the hapless Mr. Bean, is looking to sell his dark purple McLaren F1. He is asking eight million pounds (approximately C$15 million) for the supercar.

Atkinson purchased his F1 in 1997 for 643,000 pounds (C$1.2 million). The value of F1s has gone way up since then, with examples that have changed hands in the past year costing an average around US$5 million.

Atkinson says he no longer drives the F1 as much as he used to, and while he still enjoys it, the monetary value of the car now outweighs its fun value. He is clearly betting his celebrity plays a large part in the car's value.

The british comedian has had at least two crashes in the F1 – one minor and one, in 2011, where the car struck a tree, a lamppost and caught fire. The 2011 crash reportedly cost over $1 million to fix.

Even withouth the F1, Atkinson will still have plenty of expensive cars to choose from as his collection reportedly also includes an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Zagato, an Acura NSX, an Aston Martin DB2 and a 1939 BMW 328 amongst others.
