Prince Edward Island mayors, councillors and chief administrative officers will now be able to access mental health supports to manage the challenges of public service. Municipal Leaders Talk is a free, confidential counselling service for municipal officials, according to a news release from the provincial government. The service is open 24/7 at 1-800-736-8006 or at 902-894-8006. “Mayors, councillors, and CAOs across the country are feeling the strain of increasingly complex issues, rising public expectations, and, too often, instances of conflict or harassment,” said Bruce MacDougall, president of the Federation of Prince Edward Island Municipalities, in the release. “The Federation is pleased to see the province’s commitment to the Municipal Leaders Talk Program. “This dedicated counselling service will help strengthen the well-being and promote the retention of Prince Edward Island’s municipal leaders, who work every day to serve their communities.” The program offers counselling for: For more P.E.I. news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
