Members of the Canadian Armed Forces and veterans can now get free hunting licences in Prince Edward Island. The province made angling licences free for veterans and active members in 2024. “Adding free hunting licences is just a small token of appreciation for those who have served our country,” said Land and Environment Minister Darlene Compton in a news release from the province. According to Compton, more than 2,500 licences are sold annually in P.E.I. The province is also offering free hunting licences for the 2026-2027 season for people who complete the provincial hunting workshop on Sept. 12. Participants will learn about firearm safety, hunting regulations, compass use, skeet shooting and waterfowl hunting techniques. Hunting licences will be available online and at local retailers on Aug. 25. For more P.E.I. news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
