Prince Edward Island author Caitlyn Paxson is celebrating the release of her debut novel, “A Widow’s Charm.” The fantasy romance centres on a widow who attempts to resurrect her dead husband by blackmailing her rakish necromancer neighbour—only to find herself falling for him instead. Paxson is already known as a performer, a historical interpreter and a harpist. She says becoming an author was a long journey. “I wrote multiple books until I got to the one that ended up being the one. So I am very excited after so many years of working at it,” she said in an interview with Your Morning Atlantic’s Amanda Debison. “It is set in a made-up place and in this place having a magical charm is frowned upon. It something that people hide if they have it.” Paxson says the concept of the book came to her during a walk. “Sometimes an author gets lucky and the character starts talking to you. I was out for a walk shortly after I moved to the island five year ago and the male character started chattering to me,” she said. “I love historical fiction, costume drama, comedy and romance.
