Three people are facing drug trafficking charges following a “significant” seizure on Prince Edward Island. The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation on Malpeque Road in Charlottetown last Thursday, according to the RCMP. Police say they seized: The suspects were held in custody for possession for the purpose of trafficking. Andrew Myers, 46, and Samantha Beer, 30, have court appearances on Wednesday. Brandon Arsenault, 29, is scheduled to appear in court on May 7. The commanding officer of the P.E.I. RCMP says the seizure represents a “substantial disruption” to the local drug trade. “Crystal methamphetamine and cocaine are often sold at the street level in quantities as small as a half gram to a gram. Eleven ounces of methamphetamine alone can translate into thousands of individual street-level doses, while two ounces of cocaine similarly represents many doses,” Chief Supt. Kevin Lewis said in a statement from the force. Lewis adds the seizure of suspected fentanyl is of particular concern. “Even in very small amounts, fentanyl poses an extreme risk to public safety due to its potency.
