Two 18-year-olds arrested after youths sprayed with irritant in Lower Sackville

Two 18-year-old men have been arrested after a group of youths were sprayed with a sensory irritant in Lower Sackville, N.S., Monday night.

RCMP officers responded to a report of an assault involving a weapon in the 700 block of Sackville Drive around 8 p.m.

Police say the youths were sprayed with the irritant by two men known to them.

Officers were given descriptions of the suspects and arrested them just before 9 p.m.

One unnamed suspect from Halifax was released on conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date.

The second man, Jack Steele Stanley, also of Halifax, has been charged with:

• possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• assault with a weapon
• failure to comply with youth sentence or disposition (two counts)
• possession of a weapon contrary to order (three counts)

Stanley was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for allegedly failing to appear in court on charges of:

• theft under $5,000
• possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Tuesday.
