A youth hockey team in the Truro, N.S., area has been suspended as three youths face sexual assault charges in connection with alleged hazing incidents. The Colchester County District RCMP says a youth attended the Bible Hill detachment with his parent on Friday and reported that he had been assaulted during a private team gathering in October 2025. The RCMP launched an investigation, which it says included statements from multiple witnesses. Investigators allege hazing incidents involving other victims and witnesses also happened at other locations. “The first incident that was reported happened at a team function outside of a hockey setting,” Staff Sgt. Marc Rose, district commander of the Colchester County District RCMP, told CTV News Atlantic on Thursday. “We’re not going to get into the specific details of the offences. Very serious, Criminal Code offences, very serious crimes against persons.” Police say they arrested three youths without incident on Tuesday. One youth is facing the following charges: A second youth is facing the following charges: The third youth is facing a single charge of sexual assault with a weapon. Police say the three youths, whose identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been released. “From the moment this was reported, we acted using a trauma‑informed approach,” said Rose. “Our priority was the well-being of the youths involved, and we ensured investigators with specialized training in interviewing children and youth were engaged.” Police say more charges could be coming and there may be other victims who have not yet come forward, including some who live outside of Colchester County. “We recognize how painful and distressing this is,” said Rose. “We know some people may find it difficult to disclose what has happened. If there are other victims, we want them to know we’ll listen, we’ll support them, and we’ll take their experiences seriously. Hockey team suspended Hockey Nova Scotia says it learned on Friday about a “maltreatment allegation” involving a minor and it reported the allegation to the RCMP and Hockey Canada’s Independent Third Party. “The youth team in the Truro area has been suspended while the matter is under investigation,” said Mike Field, executive director of Hockey Nova Scotia, in a statement. “As this process is ongoing, and to protect the privacy of those involved, we are unable to provide further details at this time.” The team has not been named.
