The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) says it is investigating a man’s arrest and serious injury in Yarmouth, N.S., earlier this month. The RCMP says it responded to a call at a residence in the town the night of Oct. 5. A man and a woman were found at the home and arrested. SiRT says there was a struggle during the arrests between police officers and the man. The man went to hospital the next day and was diagnosed with serious injuries. SiRT says it received a referral from the RCMP on Oct. 7 and began its investigation immediately. The team is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia.
