A 72-year-old woman was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Quinpool Road at a marked crosswalk near the intersection of Vernon Street around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. Staff from the Halifax Regional Municipality tell CTV News she was taken to the hospital by EHS with serious injuries. Police closed Quinpool Road between Windsor Street and Quingate Place outbound to traffic while conducting their investigation. The male driver of the pickup truck remained on scene. He was visibly shaken and upset by the accident but didn’t appear injured. Police say he has been issued a ticket. Quinpool Road has since reopened to traffic.
