Nova Scotia Power will activate its emergency operations centre (EOC) at 8 a.m. Monday in anticipation of a winter storm. Heavy snow and high winds are expected throughout the province. “We’ve been monitoring the forecasts and have crews positioned across Nova Scotia ready to respond in the event of outages,” said Charlene MacMullin, Nova Scotia Power’s storm lead in a news release Sunday. The weather could impact power systems by bringing down trees and branches on power lines and create unsafe working conditions, said Nova Scotia Power. Winds over 80 km/h slow power restoration efforts, said the release. “The emergency operations centre brings employees from all parts of the company together in one place to coordinate our storm response,” said MacMullin. “The team will also be working closely with the Nova Scotia Emergency Management Office (EMO).” For more Nova Scotia news, visit our dedicated provincial page
