A 36-year-old man is facing robbery and assault charges after he allegedly attacked two security guards at a Walmart in Halifax on Sunday afternoon. Halifax Regional Police officers responded to a reported robbery at the 6990 Mumford Rd. Walmart around 5:10 p.m. They learned a man allegedly exited the store with stolen merchandise and assaulted the two guards when they confronted him. “Upon arrival, officers located Halifax Shopping Centre security who assisted Walmart security and had the suspect restrained,” a news release from police reads. “Officers arrested the suspect.” Police say they also arrested a 44-year-old man who allegedly assaulted the Halifax Shopping Centre security guards in an effort to free the robbery suspect.
