A 37-year-old man is facing assault charges after he allegedly broke into someone’s apartment and threatened them with a knife in Halifax over the weekend. Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint in the 500 block of Washmill Lake Drive around 1:20 p.m. Saturday. Police learned a man had entered an apartment building, pulled the fire alarm and may have also stabbed someone. “Officers arrived and located the victim, who reported that a man threatened him with a knife while attempting to gain entry to his apartment,” said police in a statement Monday. “The victim sustained minor injuries; however, he was not stabbed.” Police found the suspect in the victim’s apartment. They say he was “combative” and resisted arrest, so the officers used a Taser to subdue him. The man was taken to hospital for assessment.
