The A. Murray MacKay Bridge in Halifax will be closed to all traffic this weekend for maintenance work. The bridge will close at 8 p.m. Friday and will reopen at 5:30 a.m. Monday. Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) says the closure will allow crews to remove cable inspection platforms. The back ramp of the MacKay Bridge garage will also be demolished. HHB says the closure is weather-dependent because large cranes are needed for the work. The ramp demolition work will continue once the bridge reopens, meaning the south ramp of the Princess Margaret Boulevard will be closed Monday. The Princess Margaret Boulevard north ramp will not be affected. HHB is encouraging people to use public transit and is offering free ferry service during the closure.
