Halifax Regional Police is looking for several people after an alleged fight involving a hammer and a “sensory irritant” broke out on a bus in the Spryfield area Saturday afternoon. Police say the altercation between passengers on the bus and people driving two separate vehicles started at the Herring Cove and Dentith roads intersection around 1:45 p.m. One person on the bus allegedly used a hammer as a physical fight occurred. The bus pulled over at the Herring Cove and Williams Lake roads bus stop and people from the two vehicles approached it. One person allegedly sprayed a sensory irritant into the bus, which was evacuated. Several passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled on foot and in their vehicles, which are described as a white SUV or Crossover and an undetermined silver vehicle. One of the suspects is described as a heavy-set Indigenous man in his twenties with dark hair. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a pattern underneath a dark jacket during the incident. Police did not release any other suspect descriptions.
