Halifax Regional Police (HRP) is asking for the public’s help to solve a murder that happened 25 years ago. Police responded to a report of a death at an apartment building on Windsor Street in Halifax around 1:20 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2000. Donald David Snelgrove, 41, was found dead in the living room of his apartment. An investigation found that Snelgrove had been assaulted three days before his body was found, and that assault contributed to his death. “Investigators have information that Donald was allegedly the victim of an assault that occurred during a disturbance on Romans Avenue in Halifax sometime after 9 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2000,” a post from HRP reads. HRP is looking to speak to anyone that saw Snelgrove’s 1988 grey Plymouth Reliant in the area during the time of the assault. “It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation,” said Halifax police in a news release. Snelgrove’s murder is part of the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers a cash reward of up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in certain cases.
