The annual Groundhog Day event, scheduled every year at Shubenacadie Wildlife Park on Feb. 2, is cancelled. Blowing snow could cause unsafe driving conditions, said the news release from the province. The forecast also suggests Shubenacadie Sam, Nova Scotia’s famous rodent weather specialist, will not see his shadow, which, according to tradition, means an early spring.
