Gordie Sampson among newest inductees to Cape Breton Music Hall of Fame

The Cape Breton Music Hall of Fame is welcoming a new class of inductees.

The newest inductees of the Cape Breton Music Industry Hall of Fame were announced in Sydney, N.S., Monday morning.

Each year, the hall of fame honours people and groups whose contributions have helped shape and promote Cape Breton’s music scene locally, nationally and internationally.

The latest inductees are:

• Late fiddler Buddy MacMaster
• Bill MacNeil, the general manager of Coastal Community Radio Co-operative and music director for The Coast 89.7
• Singer-songwriter and producer Gordie Sampson
• Songwriter, poet and folklorist Allister MacGillivray, best known for “Song for the Mira”

An induction concert will take place on June 18 at Centre 200. Tickets will go on sale “soon.”
