A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting death of a man in North Preston, N.S., last fall. Daqronn Lamar Beals of Cole Harbour, N.S., was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder. The 29-year-old was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Thursday. November homicide RCMP and ambulance crews responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Cain and Clarence streets in North Preston around 5 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2025. Officers found 28-year-old Jayden Tynes at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said several people were trying to provide medical assistance to Tynes. He was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries. His case was added to Nova Scotia’s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program two months ago. The program offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction for certain major unsolved crimes. Police also announced they were looking for a white, four-door Hyundai Elantra with dark tinted windows that was seen travelling south on Lake Major Road around 5:30 p.m. the day of Tynes’ murder. Arrest a ‘significant’ step The RCMP says Beals’ arrest marks a “significant step” in the investigation. “And we hope it brings some measure of comfort to Jayden’s family, who have endured an unimaginable loss,” says Sgt. Shawn Stanton with the RCMP/Halifax Regional Police Integrated Homicide Unit. “While charges have now been laid, the investigation remains ongoing, and we continue to seek details from anyone who may have knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Jayden’s homicide.” Investigators are asking anyone with information to call them at 902-490-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
