Nova Scotia releases list of 20 most popular baby names for 2025

It seems regal names were popular picks among Nova Scotia parents who gave birth in 2025.

Charlotte, Henry and William were the top baby names in the province this year, according to Nova Scotia’s Registry of Vital Statistics.

As of Tuesday, there were 7,184 registered births in Nova Scotia in 2025 – up 30 births from 7,154 in 2024.

These were the top 20 most popular baby names (and ties) in Nova Scotia in 2025:

1. Charlotte (42)
2. Henry (40)
3. William (38)
4. Noah and Jack (33 each)
5. Violet (31)
6. Oliver (29)
7. Theodore (27)
8. Wesley and Lainey (25 each)
9. Ava, Lily, Levi and Thomas (24 each)
10. Amelia, Nora, Ella, Leo and Bennett (23 each)
11. Olivia, Isla and Maeve (22 each)

Theodore was the top baby name in 2024.

The province notes more than half of the names included in its annual top 20 list usually appear year-to-year – with Jack, Noah and Amelia often earning spots – and some additions.

Nova Scotia began formally registering births on Aug. 1, 1864, with Mary and John topping the list.
