CN says two locomotives that derailed in Saint John, N.B., Monday morning were placed back on the track Tuesday morning, allowing work to repair the damaged tracks to go ahead. The derailment happened near the Courtenay Bay Causeway, just metres from the harbour, around 8:30 a.m. Monday. The locomotives remained upright after the derailing. The train, which was hauling dozens of cars, was headed towards the city’s potash terminal. No one was injured, but CN said a small amount of engine oil leaked from one of the locomotives. “The leak was contained to railway property and is being recovered,” said Thomas Bateman, public affairs manager with CN, in a statement to CTV News Atlantic Monday. “There is no impact to public safety.” The Transportation Safety Board said Monday it was gathering information and monitoring the situation.
