TD Bank closing N.B. call centre, office to stay open

TD Bank is closing a major call centre in Dieppe, N.B.

TD Bank is closing its call centre located inside the Champlain Place mall in Dieppe, N.B.

In an email to CTV News Atlantic, TD Bank spokesperson Natasha Ferrari confirmed the Toronto-based bank will be closing its Canadian Banking Call Centre located at 43 Champlain Street.

“We regularly assess our operations to ensure they are optimized and connected to the evolving needs of our clients and business,” said Ferrari. “We are fully committed to supporting any impacted colleagues through the transition including, redeployment or relocation where possible, access to career supports and personalized assistance to navigate next steps.”

Ferrari said the office will stay open as there are other businesses operating out of that location.

Ferrari was unable to provide a number of job losses because TD Bank is actively working with its colleagues to find them opportunities within the company.

The Canadian Banking Contact Centre will close spring 2026.

“This announcement is isolated to the Canadian Banking Contact Centre and does not impact other TD businesses operating in Moncton or Dieppe,” said Ferrari.

The Finance Operations Centre, TD Insurance Contact Centres, including a recent expansion and other TD services, will continue serving clients, she said.

“TD remains strongly committed to the province of New Brunswick, employing more than 2,000 colleagues across businesses, including the expansion of our TD Insurance Contact Centre, and investing in community organizations across the province,” said Ferrari.

TD first announced plans for a new call centre in the Greater Moncton area in May 2017.

At the time, the provincial government said the centre would create up to 575 full-time jobs.

The bank moved into and renovated the former Sears location at the mall.

According to a news release from TD in 2020, the Dieppe location had almost 1,000 employees working in the Canadian Banking Contact Centre and TD Finance Operations at the time.

Luke Randall, the minister responsible for Opportunities New Brunswick, said officials from the province have already been in contact with TD.

“We understand the impact TD’s decision to close its call centre in Dieppe will have on employees, their families, and the community. Our focus is on supporting those affected and making sure they can access the help and opportunities available to them,” said Randall in an email. “We’re coordinating efforts to ensure employees receive the support and assistance they deserve.”

Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton CEO Kim Wilson said the chamber’s thoughts are with everyone impacted by the difficult news.

“We remain hopeful that TD will be able to redeploy and relocate as many employees as possible, preserving the valuable skills and experience these individuals contribute to our local economy. While the closure of the call centre marks a change in TD’s local operations, they continue to have a sizable presence in New Brunswick,” said Wilson in an email.
