Several RCMP vehicles are parked outside a home on Henry Street in Moncton, N.B., for what appears to be a significant police investigation. New Brunswick RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Luc Picard said Codiac Regional RCMP members are at the location as part of an ongoing investigation. “There is no threat to the general public,” said Picard in an email to CTV News Atlantic. Picard would not provide any additional details. Two RCMP SUVs, unmarked vehicles, and a digital forensics team were all on scene Wednesday morning. Henry Street is in the city’s east end, near the old Moncton High School. Claudette Bourgeois first noticed the police vehicles on her street early Monday afternoon. “A large police presence. Unmarked cars and detectives, plain clothes, police in uniform,” said Bourgeois. Bourgeois said police were investigating inside the home next door on Monday. “There’s always calls of noise level, fights or stir down the street,” she said. “It’s pretty much a calm neighbourhood here. Families, elder people.” Bourgeois said detectives canvassed the neighbourhood on Tuesday looking for information on a man that has been missing since late May. “And they showed pictures and asked if I had seen him,” she said. Other neighbours also told CTV News Atlantic detectives asked them about a missing man. One woman, who didn’t want to give her name, said she was relieved police were investigating inside the home. “Something is happening there. We’re hoping that this won’t go on,” she said. “They [the police] come too often and it’s been years, at least three, maybe four.” Around 12:20 p.m., the investigation was put on hold briefly when the Moncton Fire Department responded to a call of smoke in the attic of the home where the police were. Members of the RCMP left the building while several firefighters went inside. After around five or six minutes, the firefighters left the building and the investigation continued.
