The New Brunswick government is holding a public meeting in Sussex, N.B. on Tuesday night as officials weigh the future of the province’s moratorium on hydraulic fracturing. The province says 109 people have registered to attend the meeting. Natural Resources Minister John Herron began the meeting’s question and answer session by insisting no final decision had been made on the province’s review, which was announced in late August. The province says a final decision is expected in January. The Sussex public meeting is the first public meeting to be held regarding the first government’s review. The Sussex region is at the centre of the province’s energy debate, where there hydraulic fracturing is happening by Headwater Exploration in McCully Field.
