A former mayor of Saint John, N.B., who served in the role for four years, has died. The City of Saint John said Ivan Court recently passed away. He served as mayor from 2008 to 2012. “A lifelong Saint Johner, educator, and public servant, Mayor Court served 14 years on Common Council, including four as Mayor,” the city said in a Facebook post. “His passion for Saint John and commitment to the community leave a lasting legacy.” Saint John-Kennebecasis MP Wayne Long said Court devoted much of his life to public service. “His dedication to Saint John and his years of service left a lasting impact on our community,” Long said in a social media post. “My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.” The city said flags at municipal buildings will be lowered to half-mast in recognition of Court’s service.
