Former New Brunswick MLA Sheldon Albert Lee, who served in the legislature for 25 years, has died. Lee, who was born in Bonny River in 1933, died in Quispamsis on Tuesday, according to his obituary at the St. George Funeral Home and Crematorium. He was 92 years old. “A well-known and highly respected individual of the community, county and beyond, Sheldon devoted his life to a life of service,” Lee’s obituary reads. Lee was first elected to the New Brunswick House of Assembly in 1978 for the Charlotte Centre riding, which he represented until 1995 when he won the new Charlotte riding. He retired from provincial politics in 2003. A member of the Liberal Party, Lee served as Premier Frank McKenna’s minister of Transportation. “Always there to help his constituents, he would always stop in his tracks to listen to concerns and do his best to give guidance,” the obituary reads. “He truly loved people and loved helping any way he could.”
