Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) says it seized 244 live and cooked lobsters across New Brunswick this month. In a social media post, the DFO says fishery officers arrested seven people in the Campbellton, Eel River Crossing, Bathurst and Balmoral areas in recent days. The live lobsters were returned to the water. The investigations are ongoing. “We’d like to remind the public that lobster harvested under an FSC licence is not for commercial sale,” the post reads. “Buying, selling or exchanging FSC-harvested seafood is illegal and can result in prosecution, seizure and fines of up to $100,000.” For more New Brunswick news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
